Our first Reactive Dog Class was a success! Below are just a few comments from the students.

I was very pleased with the class. …. Allie overall is a very good dog. She’s just very aware of her environment and gets very nervous in new environments and around unexpected new dogs that join a group of already acquainted dogs. I wasn’t seeing the signs that Allie was communicating that would allow me to understand that she was telling other dogs to stay away. Lisa and Ann have been wonderful in assisting me by pointing out Allie’s signals so that I can better interpret what’s going on. Reading materials and then trying to see the signs in your own dog doesn’t always work, at least it didn’t for me. It’s been wonderful to have someone observe Allie’s behavior from the side and then offer counseling on the signs so that I am better able to interpret her reaction to new dogs. …. I feel that I have just begun to understand all the signs and look forward to learning more so that I may have a better relationship with my best friend.

I really appreciated the extra time you both took after the group sessions to introduce Allie to new dogs and help point out Allie’s mannerisms so I can better understand what she’s trying to communicate. I found this to be the most value for me.

Instructors were wonderful and very supportive! I really liked the size of the class and how the instructors took the time to address individual issues with each dog owner. Not a generalized course. Each dog was asked to do only what they were able to handle. Instructors took a personal interest in each dog and addressed individual concerns or issues and adjusted course activities to accommodate each dog’s level.

I learned a lot about how my state affects my dogs’ state of arousal. I find it difficult to be relaxed (which I know goes down the leash) as I am afraid of when my dog does react. …. It appeared that each class was evaluated and the plan was devised for the next week. Alterations were made on the fly for a dog based on the stimulation level of that dog for the night. I will be recommending it to anyone that can use it. There is a real need for this type of class.
